Seeds, seedlings and a bug!

I found that I had a few more seedlings ready to be planted.

Watermelon and Rockmelon

Corn

Comfrey

Protecting the pumpkin patch from the chickens

Pumpkins, hopefully safe

Fruit trees are coming along nicely

Planted a few more seeds and I was fortunate to have a couple of lemongrass cuttings kindly donatedFenced off the area I have sown with a packet of Chook fodder. A mixture of different plants that chooks love to eat and will regrow...
Hopefully dog proofed the raspberry bed from one naughty dog!
Found this little fella sleeping on Neddie's bed. Anyone know what it is? I'm off to google...

Beautiful long weekend for gardening :)

My first flowers to appear, pink pig face

Before weeding and mowing veggie beds

After weeding, mowing and sowing seedlings.
The first night in and a few seedlings have already been nibbled :( I'm going to need to do a lot of research on pests. Also found millipedes in my strawberries...

Before pea straw

After pea straw and I've made it into a garden bed. So happy with it and now need to fill in with a lot of native plants.

This is the pea straw I still have remaining after all I have distributed around my gardens

Neddie has worn a track into the grass, so have sown more grass seeds and I am hoping to keep him out, to give the lawn a chance to recover.

Loads of pea straw!

Round of pea straw delivered bright and early this morning $60 inc delivery
A few of the raspberry canes haven't been looking very healthy, so now that I have plenty of pea straw, I took all the newspaper off and let Hilda have a nibble of all the bugs hiding under the newspaper. I have a feeling the colonies of earwigs probably weren't helping the raspberries.
Raspberry bed covered with pea straw
Asparagus bed covered in pea straw
Fruit trees, corn and potatoes covered in pea straw

It doesn't even look like I have touched the round of pea straw...

Today I decided to join up to the Permaculture of SA organization, hoping to meet like minded people. I receive 4 permaculture journals a year and should learn loads more...

Seeds and potatoes

The White Currant has come to life beautifully, I'm not sure what white currants taste like, but hopefully I find out...Carrots seedlings with old towel over top, I read it helps with the germination and keeps the seeds moist.

Watermelon seedling

Comfrey...
I thought I had killed it, but out of five root cuttings I have four shoots coming up

A combination of seeds planted today and seeds planted a few weeks ago. Most of the seeds have come up beautifully, but most of the tomatoes failed and a few capsicum, so I filled in the blanks...

Potatoes have been in the cupboard waiting to be planted. I think they are definitely ready!

Four rows of corn planted out. I'm not sure if I will need to pull the green manure out from between or not, but I will wait and see.

Potatoes planted

Three sweet potatoes planted, two orange and one purple one. Hopefully they shoot up.

Fruit orchard and chooks

It's all an experiment to see how everything grows. I have planted corns, beans and pumpkins in seedling trays and will also plant directly in the ground and see which works better. Most of the time I plant directly in the ground the seeds all get eaten :(

Rubbish dump gone!

Don't think we need many words here, but all this rubbish is from the previous owners, from the moonscape, that is now my fruit orchard and chook run. I wanted it cleaned up before the snakes start to visit...
